Many of you may not know, but before I was Dethrose Vintage, I was Max & Chloe Vintage. I won't go into the name change but trust me a lot more than just my store named changed at the time. Dethrose was about a new beginning, not just for my lil' shop but for me in general. Well, tonight I was looking through my old blog, see it here, and I decided to re post my first entry for those of you who never saw it.  So here it is.

I basically love all things vintage, pretty, feminine, floral, strong, innovative and just simply creative. So why not write about those things? The beauty that inspires me, the people that inspire me.

Here's the run down on who I am. My name is Karyn. I was born in Southern Illinois in Chester, a small town of around 7000 people. Home to Popeye the Sailor Man, and Pierre Menard. A benefit of living in such a small area is the history surrounding us at all times.

My family always took an interest in the classics. My mother would always introduce us to the sitcoms of the 50's and 60's, probably why my first crush was Dick Van Dyke! Mom also loves the cinema of the late 30's and so on.  Her favorites are the 40's comedy 'The Major and the Minor' starring the lovely Ginger Rogers and the 60's comedy 'Pillow Talk' starring my mother's favorite, Doris day.

Mom had the best taste in movies and music. Looking through her pictures in high school always made me jealous. Saddle shoes, petticoats and the formals, oh my! So needless to say, she raised 5 children that would become obsessed with the history of music, movies, fashion and interior design. My sister would take me to thrift shops searching for the best vintage finds. My brothers would take me to antique malls and auctions looking for the perfect pieces for their home and collections. So what came of this? A little sister and daugther who dreams of living in an era full of waist coats, pocket watches, full skirts, hair pieces and dressing up for dinner.

So now I run an online etsy store that is full of vintage loveliness. I collect everything from the 40's to the 80's. I specialize in unique pieces from the 40's and 50's and ready to wear from the 60's and 70's. I'm constantly collecting and looking for more. My favorite thing in the world is getting up early, getting my large latte and going to an estate sale. If only I could do it everyday!

Wow! It's so funny to read that now, and I'm happy to say, I do get to do this everyday! And I have all of you to thank for emaking Dethrose what it is today! Thank you for all your kindness and support! I "heart" all of you:)

xoxo,
Karyn
