Randolph Street Market Festival

Last week, I was asked to come and visit the Chicago's Randolph Street Antique and Vintage Market  and take some photos and show what some of the vendors are selling this summer. The market takes place at the last weekend of every month until October. I haven't been able to attend yet this year because of work. So when Kimberly Oliva and Sally Swartz, the 2 lovely women who run the show, asked me to do this I could not pass it up! I met Kimberly through doing various vintage showcases through the city, and she is such a sweet and lovely person. So of course had to stop by her booth and check out all the cool stuff she had for sale as well.

An amazing Doll Head with moving eyes....I might have to buy this if isn't sold already:)
Awesome vintage tools and what not...I don't know what I would do with these but I want...

Despite it being one of the hottest days of the summer, I pulled through and shopped every booth. I took pictures of my favorite items and of course I bought way too much!! I am so so excited for everything I got and I will be photographing all of it this week so you can see all my lovely new treasures. Most I am keeping for myself but I will have a few up for sale on Dethrose Vintage soon:)

There was so much to offer at this flea market, yet it was by no means overwhelming. I saw and shopped every booth in less than 3 hours. There was also an indoor area that was air conditioned for people to go and shop and cool off. Not to mention the food and drinks available for purchase. I mean,  mimosa's, sweet desserts, fresh pies, practically anything delicious was available! So I strolled around drinking my mimosa and talking to and meeting so many lovely vendors that have been loving vintage and antiques for decades! It's always so inspiring to meet people that have so much knowledge and passion for all these beautiful things.
Fabulous hats, my addiction was satisfied, I bought 2! And I found a spectacular 1950's green floral cocktail dress that I can't fit into yet but I will!!!
More from Kimberly's booth!!!

For my sister Amy....

To feed my need of Needle Point and Tapestry....

So this booth was one of my favorite Vintage clothing booths I came across this day. Suzanne from Hanky Panky Vintage had some really great pieces for such reasonable prices. I bought four fantastic items from her, including an amazing 1940's Jacket pictured below with amazing plaid detail. I can not wait til it starts to cool down here so I can wear it!! My other favorite piece is the green 1930's dress with the blossoms pictured as well. For the price, if it would have been my size I would of left wearing it. Suzanne doesn't have an actual store front but she is constantly traveling to different cities and selling her one of kind vintage. Catch her next time at the end of September here at the Randolph Street Antique and Vintage Market!!! **pics of my goodies coming soon....

This was actually the first thing I spotted when I had arrived. I love the desk oh so much and everything on it. A little steep in price for me but it gave me inspiration of what to hunt for...

More goodies.....

I am shopping hardcore for antique pieces for my new apartment soon. I fell in love with this little booth called Rare Rubbish. Again, a little steep but I may just have to splurge....

I got a lovely framed needle point floral picture to add to my collection here, and a lovely little wire pot with a bird attached. I woulda bought everything at this booth if I had a bottomless wallet.
My new needle point is atop of that end table in this photo...

I will one day have a couch just like this...

I want...

Now I hope these photos helped entice you to attend the next Market. Mark your calendars and maybe I will see ya there!!

As promised, I told you I would have photos of the dress I purchased from Nicole of Bombshell Shocked Vintage. This late 50's number was screaming my name oh so loudly went I visited her booth. I mean the color alone is to die for! As soon as I put it on I knew it was for me! I have worn it 3 times already and for those who know me, it usually takes about 3 or even 6 months for me to repeat an outfit. But this dress is too special not to repeat more often. It's just so perfect and I know Mrs. Betty Draper-Francis would approve:)

Estate, Phone, Police, Home, Wine

Yesterday was by far the most eventful and longest day. I started out with of course my morning latte and my maps to estate sales in the suburbs of Chicago. Joining me was a friend/co worker who not only is new to Chicago, he was new to the world of Estate sales. We stopped to get coffee and then I noticed my phone had given out on me...which meant my maps were gone. Luckily, I remembered the majority of the directions. We made it to the estate sale and I scored some really amazing things. A navy 50's sheer cocktail dress, a white and pink floral L'Aiglon dress and gorgeous gloves and etc.... So many beautiful things and I can't wait to post them on Dethrose Vintage. But my phone, which is brand new, and meant for web and navigation specifically, is only 2 weeks old. UGH!! This keeps happening to me, so that was frustrating but I just had to laugh. Then we wanted some more coffee and seriously had to drive around and around this tiny town to find some. Came across our first perfect photo opt. I loved the exposed brick in this little basement cafe. Despite any set backs we already had come across it was becoming a really really fun and productive day.

Next we thrifted, ate some awesome lunch at Birchwood cafe back in the city and took some photos. Now this is where the rest of our day got just straight up hilarious. We were driving through my neighborhood about to go run an errand that I was dreading, picking up something from my least fav person, and I noticed an awesome photo opt. Around the corner from my place is this little sunflower garden. The sun was perfection and the light was just right. So we got out and I snapped some truly awesome photos. After we were finished BAM! Oh crap, my keys were locked in my car. Rats! What do I do??? We laughed out butts off and I remembered, there is a police station right around the corner from my house. And I was like, police always open peoples doors right? The always get people out of distress right? So we walked into the station and heads turn and they were very confused immediately. Who are we and why were we sooooo happy to be there. Hahaha, I mean we were laughing because our day had been too weird. I asked them politely for help and explained my situation. They informed me that police officers havent done things like opening locked cars and such in decades...ok then, I guess it just happens in the movies now. About to give up, this nice police officer offered his help. With in fifteen minutes I was back in my car.

I love the photos, the light and the foliage were just perfect to compliment the colors in the dress. I mean, how could I have possibly been in a bad mood about locking my keys in my car?? These pics made it so worth it!!

The walk to the Police station...it was nice, I began to realize just how adorable my neighborhood is...

**I think this one was my favorite picture. Something about the colors made me really happy. And I was in such a goofy mood. Silly pictures are always the best ones.

The nice police officer that was polite enough to help lil ol' me out:)

By the time we were back from running the rest of my errands, we again hit up a few more thrift stores and got a caffeine refill. Next stop was wine and a movie, the perfect end to the most random day I ever have had.
