Sunshine, Cucumber Gimlets and Trump

I know the weather this summer has been so up and down and all around frustrating all over the country. The usual for Chicago is a day or 2 of gorgeous perfection, then rain, then heatwave, then god knows what. So when a beautiful day comes to be, you jump at the chance to enjoy the city as much as you can. When my friend James asked if I'd like to meet downtown, walk around and get drinks I thought, of course! While I don't really send a lot of time downtown, during the summer it's just so gorgeous and clear, it's a nice get away from the typical neighborhoods I spend my time in.
Of course we started with coffee, then onto shopping. I don't really buy a lot of "non vintage" clothing, mostly because the fit is always off and it just always seems so cheap. However, I love accessories and shoes, oh and beauty products! I left with a new Chanel perfume, and ahahaha.....kitchen accessories:) Lol, ever since I got into cooking fresh and from scratch, I am obsessed with kitchen utensils and cute little things for brightening up the place I now spend the most time. No clothing this time around, but mostly because I just got a load of gorgeous vintage dresses when I went home this past weekend and yet another Anthro Dress that I will be posting about later next week!

After walking around, James suggested stopping for drinks on the 16th floor of the "newer" Trump Hotel. It's called Terrace and let me just tell you the view is to die for!! You could see everything all way out to the lake, stunning! We kept it light and had what the waitress suggested, Cucumber Vodka Gimlets. Delicious! So delicious in fact, I went and bought some cucumber vodka today:)Here's the recipe for making your own tasty Gimlets!
  • 1.25 oz. Cucumber Effen Vodka
  • 1 oz. tonic water
  • 0.75 oz. simple syrup (optional)
  • *I prefer it without
  • 0.75 oz. lime juice
  • 3 slice(s) cucumber
  • 1 slice(s) cucumber peel
Voila! tasty drink of every occasion:)

Look at this view! The bridge closest is Michigan Ave.

The Wrigley Clock and the Tribune building, my personal favorites.
The ground floor of the West side of the Wrigley Building.
My lovely little anthro dress and 2 of my favorite buildings behind me, The Tribune and the Wrigley Clock!
James!

One more view of the Chicago river, it's just so pretty.

Well I hope to see some of you that are in the Chicago area this weekend at Heaven's Gallery for "The Art of Shopping" Vintage Heaven Big Sale. Located at 1550 N. Milwaukee 2nd Floor

Oh wow, those really are some incredible views! I have never been to the States so it is always so nice to get a feel for the different cities through the blogs I read.

I think I just added Chicago to the list of must sees.
