The Sweetest Surprise

This weekend was the Vintage Heaven monthly sale. This is one of the pop-up shops I never miss. In fact, I have only missed one sale in the 3 years I have been participating. I honestly look forward to every one of these sales, not just to sell but to hang out with some of my dearest friends I have met doing the sales. Each month, I constantly meet fantastic new customers and amazingly talented vendors. Mary Miller is one of these talented people I met last spring. She is a fabulous artist and her elegant illustrations are just simply stunning! I have purchased these in the past, framing one for myself and giving others as wonderful gifts.

Today, Mary surprised me with an illustration. I was on a flyer for last months sale and Mary did this illustration of it. I was blown away! It was so flattering, I don't think I could have thanked her enough:) Seriously, the best gift I have gotten in a long while. Thank you Mary for you talent!
Please check out Mary's illustrations at the monthly Vintage Heaven pop-up shop!
Don't forget about the 15% off sale at Dethrose Vintage!! Sale ends at Midnight tomorrow!

Sunshine, Cucumber Gimlets and Trump

I know the weather this summer has been so up and down and all around frustrating all over the country. The usual for Chicago is a day or 2 of gorgeous perfection, then rain, then heatwave, then god knows what. So when a beautiful day comes to be, you jump at the chance to enjoy the city as much as you can. When my friend James asked if I'd like to meet downtown, walk around and get drinks I thought, of course! While I don't really send a lot of time downtown, during the summer it's just so gorgeous and clear, it's a nice get away from the typical neighborhoods I spend my time in.
Of course we started with coffee, then onto shopping. I don't really buy a lot of "non vintage" clothing, mostly because the fit is always off and it just always seems so cheap. However, I love accessories and shoes, oh and beauty products! I left with a new Chanel perfume, and ahahaha.....kitchen accessories:) Lol, ever since I got into cooking fresh and from scratch, I am obsessed with kitchen utensils and cute little things for brightening up the place I now spend the most time. No clothing this time around, but mostly because I just got a load of gorgeous vintage dresses when I went home this past weekend and yet another Anthro Dress that I will be posting about later next week!

After walking around, James suggested stopping for drinks on the 16th floor of the "newer" Trump Hotel. It's called Terrace and let me just tell you the view is to die for!! You could see everything all way out to the lake, stunning! We kept it light and had what the waitress suggested, Cucumber Vodka Gimlets. Delicious! So delicious in fact, I went and bought some cucumber vodka today:)Here's the recipe for making your own tasty Gimlets!
  • 1.25 oz. Cucumber Effen Vodka
  • 1 oz. tonic water
  • 0.75 oz. simple syrup (optional)
  • *I prefer it without
  • 0.75 oz. lime juice
  • 3 slice(s) cucumber
  • 1 slice(s) cucumber peel
Voila! tasty drink of every occasion:)

Look at this view! The bridge closest is Michigan Ave.

The Wrigley Clock and the Tribune building, my personal favorites.
The ground floor of the West side of the Wrigley Building.
My lovely little anthro dress and 2 of my favorite buildings behind me, The Tribune and the Wrigley Clock!
James!

One more view of the Chicago river, it's just so pretty.

Well I hope to see some of you that are in the Chicago area this weekend at Heaven's Gallery for "The Art of Shopping" Vintage Heaven Big Sale. Located at 1550 N. Milwaukee 2nd Floor

Fourth of July Weekend

This weekend was such a light and fun weekend! It was the Vintage Heaven Sale at Heaven's Gallery, which I always look forward to! Nothing is better than seeing so many of your favorite customers returning to try on your vintage finds and not to mention playing dress up yourself with what you may find there! I bought a couple of goodies I couldn't leave without but usually I am really great about restraining myself from buying. It's so hard when some of your favorite vintage sellers are all under one roof!

After Vintage Heaven I just enjoyed the weekend with friends. I'm not a big 4th of July person but I am an outdoor summer bbq, sipping on drinks and laughing with friends kinda person. So I really don't see the difference in this weekend than any other weekend personally. Oh, maybe the fireworks... there were a lot of fireworks! And yes we were the jerks setting them off all night long. There is just something nostalgic about the lights and yes, even the smell. I still get like a giddy little girl when I shoot one! I hope I never grow out of it:)

What did you all do?

I chose to wear my favorite new dress to Day 1 of the sale:) And I recently learned how to do more interesting braids, I don't think I have had my hair down all week long!

Oh! Before I forget, Dethrose Vintage is having a 20% off sale from today through next Tuesday the 12th. I sent out a huge email yesterday announcing it, so if you're not on my email list Sign Up!
The prices are already marked down:) Have fun Shopping!
A top my Jenstyle Chic Vintage, love you Jen! And a Dethrose Vintage Skirt:)
Doing my favorite thing, twirling:)
The dress I have been dying to see on! The arm holes are so small I never thought anyone would be able to get into it but this girl walked in and I made her try it on! I came to the conclusion of redo-ing the sleeves so others may wear it, lol!  You can see the dress here.

Here all my favorite purchases from this weekend! All from Jenstyle Chic, seriously if you haven't checked out her store you are missing out! Visit it HERE.
Everyone knows how much I love tapestry! So when I saw this hanging on Jen's rack it was an instant must have!

Crop top? Yes please! This one is the one I am wearing in the above pic. Its so 60's Gidget! Pastel, open bell bottom and back button closure! And most important, 100% cotton! My only summer fabric:)
Last purchase, this early 60's Dacron light blue tulle print day dress. Fits me like a glove and my fav shade of blue. Gorgeous!!! You will be seeing a post with this in it very, very soon!

I completely forgot to post the pics of my last outdoor sale at Randolph Street Market, which I will be doing every last weekend of the month though September (weather permitting of course). If you live in the Chicago area please come visit me at one of my sales! I love meeting readers and people who shop my Store.
The view from my shaded seat.
1 of my 3 rack of dresses alone!
My favorite 50s Silk Chiffon Party Dress! I sold this right away, I mean how could anyone resist it?!
There you go! Hope you all had a lovely 4th:)
