hibernating

It has been a long, long time since I have written or posted anything on this ol' blog! 2 months! 2 months that have flown by. Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I am done with Winter. It has lasted for far too long! Luckily, instead of my regular hibernating, we've been keeping pretty busy. The shop has been great, online & here at Market Supply Co. We've been out searching and digging for Spring and Summer goodies that I can't wait to finally bring out to light. Soon, I hope. The snow was finally leaving us but then what happens this morning? I awoke to a snow covered ground again. I almost threw in the towel right then. I want green grass & trees! Warm sun and a cool breeze!!! Is that too much to ask!?

Another thing that has been keeping me relatively sane is working out at the Bar Method Studios here in Chicago. The last 3 months have been brutal and rewarding. I swear it's been the main reason for me to not stay cuddled up in my warm bed all winter long. I started hard by going 26 days in a row for January, then every other day in February and now 4 days a week. Without that, the shop, Mike and my friends, I probably would have curled up with my cats in my bed the last three months just trying to keep warm!

Here's a little recap of my winter via Instagram!

The shop...

bathing beauties before the get to the shop...

vintage finds that are too good to sell...
where the vintage goes before it hits the shop...

the sweet things we encounter while working...

and a few things I love...

Chicago & my man

and of course...
my fur balls.

Not pictured, my friends, which I realize I don't have nearly enough photos of.

How do you survive the Winter months??

Sadie, Sadie

Every time I log in to post, I realize how much time I have neglected to write and capture a more personalized post. Why, other than being terrified to bore you all,  because I am usually swamped with photographing new items, etsy, buying and hunting for more vintage, etc... Now I have a really good excuse I swear!! I've been  prepping for a store front, that's right Chicago, I am finally getting the brick & mortar of my dreams! More details to come within the next couple weeks,  but what I can tell you is that it will be with 2 people I love, my fiery ginger bff Merl Kinzie & my mustachioed fiance Mike. Oh did I not mention the other reason I've been so busy?? I GOT ENGAGED!!
{photo credit: merl kinzie}
Mike surprised me last Wednesday at the beach & proposed to me. It was the most relaxing & gorgeous day. Spent laying in the sun, stuffing our faces with fruit salad, making fun of practically everything [including each other], and BAM! There was an antique ringbox with a gorgeous 1890s Garnet & Sea Pearl ring inside waiting for me. It was a chill, non-dramatic moment with my best friend. So duh, I said yes. I am so excited for the things to come!! And I plan on draggin' ya'll along for the ride:)

Before the big moment... & then...
The most perfect engagement ring.

I still am in shock that I got the best friend I didn't know I could love so much.

Okay, okay, enough of mush!! Don't wanna show ya'll my non-robot side too much;)
ON TO THE VINTAGE!!!

Here's what's new in the ol' shop!

❤♥❤ Valentine's Day Special❤♥❤

I have never really been into the Holidays. I love Fall and the warmth of Thanksgiving & Winter and the glimmering Christmas lights and of course snow. I think I love the time of year more than the actual celebrations.

Valentine's Day is a holiday that I don't get the fuss. I do however like the child like version of Valentine's, the candy hearts, be mine valentine's, and the red and pink everywhere! I like the sweetness of it all. Unfortunately, most do not appreciate the simple meaning of love. They often think presents, presents, presents or I have to have a date! Whether it's stressing over gifts to give or pressuring one with what they should get you. Missing all the childlike fun that could be had. For me, when I am in a relationship around this time of year, I don't do the gift thing or the pressure of doing it up all big. Instead, the day should just be full of love and fun! My favorite thing to do is dress up and spend the day and evening with loved ones enjoying the city you live in. Concerts, dancing, and all around silliness:) Even if you're not technically "in love" that shouldn't stop you from having just simple fun with your significant other or loved ones. Step back, take the pressure off and just enjoy the happiness that fills the air this time of year.

So, in honor of this time of year, Dethrose Vintage is sharing the LOVE with our customers and giving you all a little Valentine's. 15% off the shop from 2/1/12 ~ 2/14/12 !! Simply enter promo code, BEMYVALENTINE at checkout and receive 15% your entire purchase!
