Sunday Apple Pickin' Part 1

Yesterday was one of those perfect Sundays.  Here in Chicago were are having quite the Indian Summer, 80 degrees and higher in October! That is truly unheard of here!! So when my fellow blogger friend Leilani from The Thriftaholic asked me to join her for some Sunday adventures I jumped at the chance. She suggested we travel over to Indiana for some end of season apple picking at County Line Orchard. I was so excited no only for spending this beautiful day outside but going to a huge apple orchard/pumpkin patch, not to mention getting to know Leilani better! I grew up in a town with a apple orchard and in middle school we used to go every September to learn how to make cider and butter. As soon as we pulled up I could smell the nostalgia.

We had such a fun day eating apple & pumpkin donuts, drinking fresh apple cider and exploring all the orchard had to offer! I took advantage of the market and got jars of apple butter, pumpkin butter, sweet potato pecan butter (so far my fav), and numerous freshly picked Jubilee Fuji apples! I can't wait to go back!

We took so many pictures that this will most likely be a 3 parter:)

The weather was so beautiful and the colors were so vibrant, I didn't even have to adjust the colors of these photos!
Leilani wore the cutest dress perfectly coordinating with the apple trees:)
Of course we had to twirl! Leilani was totally a twirling pro.
I wish I would of worn a fuller skirt to hold more apples:)
I love Leilani's mix of accessories! The acorn bracelet is to die for.
The donuts and cider were probably my favorite part of the orchard, that is until I got home and tasted the sweet potato pecan butter.
 Apple Cinnamon & Pumpkin, yummers!!
 mmmm.....
How did you all spend your Sunday??

Best Weekend This Year!

Anyone who lives here in Chicago or visits frequently knows that its the best city! We Chicagoans brave the miserable long winters because we know how wonderful this city is when just a hint of warmth shines upon us! Saturday was perfect, sun, 68 degrees and mild wind. I started my Saturday at 6am for estate sales and antique mall shopping! Then yesterday was a whopping 88 degrees!! Oh man did we take advantage and love every minute of it! Whoa, every sentence ended with an exclamation point, hahaha, that's how good it was:)

I left my apartment in the afternoon and did not return until 1am. It was warm the entire time, running into friends left and right. Walking in the sun enjoying Latte's, fruit salad in the Park with friends soaking up the sun. Taking a billion photos and ending the warm evening with tasty Jameson's with Ginger Ale, yummy!

Now if only Chicago could keep it going, but alas, it will be in the low 40's by this weekend. Here's to living in a bi-polar city;) Oh well, here are some fun pics of our day:0

Oh, and keep posted to Dethrose tonight! New items will be posted.
